Well, of course. That feeling goes with the diagnosis. It is necessary to employ the "stop thought" technique when that train of thought dominates. This is an OCD technique I learned from watching a self help tape on OCD. One visualizes a stop sign in one's mind, and then directs one's thought to other things. You can take some time during a peaceful moment to create a list of diversionary thoughts or activities to use after you stop thought. How does this sound? I suggest you try it out before rejecting it as useless because many people have found this helpful. Those hopeless thoughts are an illusion. Life doesn't stop. There is no ending point.
