I have had to detach from my father and 3 brothers since my Mom's death four years ago. To me this hasn't meant any big pronouncement to any of them - I don't know if they are even aware that I have. I still communicate with all of them. But the difference is they no longer hold any power over me. I let their opinions about me and my lifestyle or choices go in one ear and out the other. It has been a very freeing experience. Good luck!!!
