Sannah ( Sannah!) asked you a good question, and I hope the answer is yes, you are seeking/getting help and support for yourself.

Stooping to the low level that others treat me will often make me feel bad about myself. It hurts my self esteem that I had to act in such a childish, out of control or abusive way. So I try not to do that. Which is not to say that I don't stick up for myself or lose my temper.

Maybe you are just hanging around the wrong kind of people? In the past I "wanted" this person or that group to like me and accept me. When they didn't I felt much as you describe, betrayed and angry. I learned to look for what I needed, not necessarily what I wanted - or thought I wanted.

I always try to treat people with respect until they give a reason not to. My trusting people goes the same way. Look for people who are supportive, kind, concerned and thoughtful to you. When people do not act that way, over and over again. Stay away from them. Putting yourself around people who make you feel bad about yourself is self defeating behavior. Find people who genuinely like you and that you feel the same about. It takes time and effort.
