Thanks so much for your kind words everyone, it has helped so much. Doesn't it irk you when some will say, "it was just an animal". . .? I know that may be the only way they know to be of help, but in my heart it hurts when any animal gets themselves into these sort of accidents.
I am going to compose a letter of thanks to the people last nite that helped, especially the man that came out of his house to help me, and have some of the men move the poor thing off to the side, I was running out near it waving my arms to caution people away from it, it is bad enough it was dead or near death but to be smooshed would have been a double tragedy in my memory. Too bad our brains can't lose memory of horrific images the way it fails us when we misplace our glasses, car keys and the things we put in a "safe place", so safe, we forget where, right?
I ccan't stress enough how ALL of you who replied here and in PM's last nite have helped, I thank you all as well as the people on the road at the scene of the accident.
I am so very careful of the night and things darting out in front of me, I guess there are times that we can't have total control over and yes, accidents do happen.
