I understand about seeing a physician, but I don't recommend seeing one unless there is little or no improvement...not because of the money.
Still, perhaps talking to her/his nurse will give you a better answer.
At minimum, please call the office, ok?

The irritation you are having could quite possibly be from any
"scratching the itching," but that in itself needs treated...that, though, can be treated at home if that is what it is...
