Journalism & news reporting is about dead in this country
At least ones that are professional & have any integrity
I dealt with this alot when my son died. There were a handful of inaccuracy, but they were just worried about getting the most sensational story out they could.

I remember a few years back when the national news networks made a major mistake like this during the Coal mining disaster...I think it was in Virginia or West Virginia...if my memory is incorrect about the state my apologies...Both Fox with Giraldo Rivera & CNN with Anderson Cooper was reporting that all the minors were out & alive at one point. This was not only inaccurate it was also unprofessional & reckless. I remember seeing the data of how long they were trapped in the mines along with the chemicals & toxins they were exposed to in that time. In a half an hour sitting in my living room I created a statistical model that showed that case was a statistical impossibility
They created so much false hope & heart break because they wanted to be first

It was a statistical anomoly that the lone person who did survive made it

I'm so sorry that you & your family had to deal with yet another instance of unprofessional reporting..I've been there...
Thanks for this!
