Well, unfortunately, there is no test for humans which is why shots are always given if there was any reason to suspect an exposure. The only way to know for sure is to examine the brain of the animal (microscopically) you were bitten by (if it is avaiable). Of course, I did read the story of a girl who survived rabies and they determined that she was infect by drawing spinal fluid from her so maybe they do have tests out now .
