Mine has gotten better but loud noises will still startle me at times...
Reminding myself of where I am and other grounding techniques help, but it takes me awhile to relax.
It does feel threatening to me but many people just hate loud noises for other reasons. This thought helps me in a weird kind of way in that it shows me others have somewhat the same reaction and it's not connected to any trauma...I don't feel quite as "lonely/apart" if that makes sense.
