In order to not believe what our parents told us we have to accept that they were wrong. This is a hard thing to do I guess. When we are small our parents are everything.
Now when others give judgements they frequently pick up on how we already feel about ourselves. If a person walks into a room with self doubt and self hate in their eyes people will see this and a large number of people will believe the same thing. There are those who do have compassion, however. Those who understand. But basically we need to take the lead in how others see us by what we project about ourselves.
