Perhaps getting his family physician involved is necessary.
There isn't really enough information given to us in order for us to help you.
Is this new behavior or another episode of one? Did this friend have a diagnosis of autism as a child?
Many questions, I know...

A major concern is the mother. Her physical and mental health needs should be recognized and honored...
