I put a trigger on this, because I'm going to mention sex crimes (not in detail), and just want to warn everyone.
I have a cousin who seems to think the majority, or at least a LOT, of cases where women accuse men of sex crimes, are bogus. For instance, on Dr. Phil the other day, he talked to the parents of a 12-year-old girl who used her Playstation control (or something like that) to chat sexually with men, and one of them was 19 and met her and they had sex. She had told people while chatting that she was 16, but I don't know if he thought that or not. They didn't show her face, so I can't say for sure how old she looked, but her body, I'd say, didn't look older than 14, and even if he thought she was 16, that's still a crime. In any case, my cousin ignored the whole issue about the girl and went right on to say (not an exact quote), "And I bet the guy ended up in jail, right?" with a sour expression, in the way he does when he thinks a guy is getting a bum rap.
He thinks guys who have sex with teen girls shouldn't always go to jail, because many times the girls hit on them, lie about their age, or consent to the sex (he's very defensive of men when it comes to statutory rape). He says, regarding teen boys and girls, very often, the girl is the first one to initiate sex. That may be true, I don't know, but I'm under the impression that it's usually the boy. I'm not saying boys are bad, nor am I saying girls never or rarely initiate sex, but I would guess boys are more likely to be the initiators.
I've debated with him about this and other issues, but he sometimes gets so defensive and angry, I just listen, stop arguing, or even agree, because I get tired of it. He uses the "C" word to describe women who do things that make him angry, even cutting him off the road. I really don't like that. He says it with such vitriole.
I'm interested in what others think about this, although I'm mostly posting it, just to get it off my chest, because it really bugs me.
