Employers say some very cruel and uneducated things, Oasis. As another writer observed, you just have not found a good fit yet.
If you are in college, many colleges have one or more career counseling indexes (quiz, except there's no right or wrong answers

), such as the Myers-Briggs. Even if you took this at an earlier age, the career counselors will now interpret the results in terms of potential employment. The results can be used to guide us in many different ways, so you may have had it in a psych or comm courses. But then results would have been used somewhat differently.
There are so many careers that we don't think of. For example, when I was running a college internship program, one of the students went to a hospital public relations department. It turned out that she hated public relations. However, she participated in planning a big fund-raising event. She discovered that she loved event planning, and there was a big event planning organization in her home state.
A lot of professional organizations have reduced rates for students or will allow students to attend one or two meetings for free. Keep your eyes out using meetup.com for groups in your community that may have informational meetings about employment areas you might like to investigate. Take advantage of all the free and cheap resources you can.
Don't give up, Oasis. It's a tough economy and one that is transition.
