Just my humble opinion: if you can find any way at all to have the order of protection served, go for it. Is there any domestic violence support group in your area that perhaps can help with funds? I'm thinking that along with the fact of the order is also the psychological boost for you, the knowledge that you are continuing to get yourself safe and that you are not available for abuse. And that the law in on your side.
