I so appreciate all of your prayers and thoughtfulness during these tough times.
Mom's kidneys did not perk up with the changes. They are making more changes tonight which should increase her output. All other vitals are good, except her BUN and creatinine levels are increasing (yet she isn't in acidosis!)
Family has been called and we all agree that a discussion about temporary dialysis is in order, and if it's feasible to see if even one treatment clears her some and helps her at all. If not, then we'll begin thinking hospice. IDK if a dialysis treatment would cause her to code or not.
My thoughts are we can do all we can and if she still goes, then it was supposed to be that way. Or we can stop everything and if she's supposed to live, she will. It's all really in God's hands. At least we've had time to get used to the idea?
We still aren't sure to sign a DNR. Care will reduce (though they say it won't) my sis and I both know it will once that's signed. I explained to my sis about the living will, that if she codes and they are able to revive her, but if they have to intubate and all, then we will have our answer anyway: that isn't what she'd want. The living will gives us that power to remove the life support.
Mom told me in our last semi-conversation that she didn't want to go yet. My sis will try and catch her in a cognitive moment if she has one tomorrow and ask her what she wants us to do.
Either way... she has no quality of life for future unless a miracle occurs. (That's totally up to God.) The rest of her life will be in bed we think, as she never got the chance to walk at the rehab. She's been in ICU bed for...IDK how long ... at least a week. (They did have her sitting on the side of the bed today though.)
Just thought I'd let you know. I silently ? wish that if she needs to go this time, that she do so before we try anything new. Her mom went in her sleep, I wish the same for my mom.
