Getting to Our lady of Holy Cross would be a trek for me, even though looking at a map its not that far. I dont' have a vehicle thats reliable to get me out of St Bernard. And i'm scared to drive it even here. I would have to find some place closer.

It's in Orleans Parish on the Westbank. In Algiers. Is there a way for you to get there without having to back out through New Orleans East and drive all the way around? It really is not very far in miles as the crow flies, but I know that doesn't necessarily mean much when there aren't that many paths in and out, and I'm lousy at trying to visualize geography.
