Yes, it does sound like a very important session. What i hear you saying in your post is that you've experienced a very different reaction from your t, as compared to your parents. With your folks, you were used to being able to use your behaviors to bring about a certain response from them. However, your t would not let you push her emotional buttons or influence her to react the way you wanted her to. Seeing her stand her ground with you may have made you feel safe with her. Same with your grandmother, who set a limit for you. You also experienced an acceptance of your anger, which was not tolerated in your family.

So yes, you are learning new lessons, and having new experiences of growth with your t.

This is all very important stuff.
