Although I'm not familiar to what might work for your kitties...I do recall a plant you do NOT want in the home with pets.
There's a floor plant called Dumb Cane. It is not recommended for any home to have this plant with small children or pets, as if they were to place into mouth the plant contains a poison which effects the vocal cords..hense the name Dumb.
I can't remember the exacts on it, but if i do recall correctly, most indoor plants which contain multi-colored (or varied tones) on leaves indicate a possible poisonous element within them...tho I cannot be certain of that, I believe the plant is of the Pothos species... (hobby of mine was 20+years ago....sorta have forgotten the details...sorry).
I know this is all quite vague but hope it helps some.
