I truly welcome your bringing this up. Not for your stated reason, but for another reason that I think is ultimately more valuable.
I don't think friendship requires there be no friction or discomfort. The only group of people that will have no conflict would be people who are all very similar in every way. We are a diverse group and I would not want it to be otherwise. That might be always sweet and comforting, but it would be boring and useless to almost anyone who did not fit in.
I think rather than avoid the discomfort of some of the recent activity, it should be seen as a new opportunity. I, for one, am an avoidant personality and could stand to learn a bit about working through stressful situations without my usual turtle into the shell retreat.
