Adderall never really worked for me, even after i was on 30 mg in the morning and 10 mg generic mixed amphetamines in the afternoon. If it has an effect, you should notice pretty soon after starting, and if I remember correctly, I think 30 mg is considered a fairly substantial dose - i don't think they usually prescribe more than 40 mg.
If you don't find it's working, you might want to try Concerta - i have had noticeably better success with that.
