When my girlfriend and I went fishing in her pond we used bread and a rag, wrapped around the fish when we removed the hook. Your son might also be helpful. Some boys don't care. Hey...even your daughter could help.
My cousin's wife is a total tomboy and does all that stuff. Not me. Yuck.
