It takes time to accept it, and please try to work with someone with this, a good pdoc and/or talk therapist.
I went through this 5 years ago, mood stabilizers help a lot.
Feel free to come to our forums, there are so many people that are supportive, compassionate, etc.
Check our Bipolar forum.
It's hard but don't let it get you, it can be livable, meds help a lot, and also educate yourself as much as possible, about this disorder, it helped me to accept it and even appreciate some of it, sounds odd to hear that but as you read some of the books I have listed at the Bipolar forum you may able to understand me.
Never feel like you are some sort of odd person, thousands of people have this disorder, different variations, combinations, some have mild to severe mood swings, and/or rapid cycling.
Also a common thing many of us feel when we are DXed or go for help, is it is a sign of weakness, don't, ever feel that way. This is a chemical imbalance in our brains, and genetics play a big role in it too, something we had no prediction of knowing when and if it would or will surface.
I think I am rambling, but if you ever want to talk to someone about Bipolar, etc. send me a PM, I'd hate to start spewing out stuff I have learned, I do like to share that with others but also do not want to take people's time if they aren't interested, wow, I know how that feels
I wish you lots of luck with this.
Drop by here anytime, check out "chat" too, that is nice option here, but can't gaurantee that there will always be someone there.

Sincerely,

DE
