I have had deaths in my family. I think any grief a person feels is in direct proportion to the nature of relationship we have with that person. If its a close relationship we grieve a lot. If we are not close to that person for whatever reason we don't grieve as much, if at all.

Don't let anybody dictate how you should and shouldn't feel.
The circumstances of a person death also affects us differently.
Some people are sick for a very long lime and some people are gone in an instant. Grief is a very individual for each person.
