i have a facebook account with all my friends and family. I am an abuse survivor and have ptsd because of it. There is an annoying cousin who thinks he is funny...he brought up the subject of the house i grew up in where a lot of the abuse occurred. He mentioned the name of the street and that he went by it yesterday and described a room i had been abused in. It triggered me really bad; flashbacks, unwanted thoughts, extreme anger, wanting to scream at him because he triggered me, but if i did that, it would cause a really bad reaction with my family that would be distructive. But between the flashbacks, i came up with an idea so i would not have to deal with him or his insensitive jokes or comments and won't find unexpected triggers. The rest of the family does not talk about triggering things. I remembered the "remove friend" button on facebook...so i used it! And you know what? His triggering status was gone! And i realized although i cannot change the past, i can sometimes do things to keep reliving it!
