In the 22 years I have lived in many apartments & they have always banned any pets. We have MPD/DID...and our youngest, "Jessie - age 9" adopted a stray mouse that wandered into our apartment, named him "Ozzie"...well, Ozzie met "Harriet" and thus, we had 3 babies running around (we don't believe in cages) One was really "odd"...he fell in the dishwater when we were doing dishes & had to be saved; then he crawled into my hubby's open bag of pretzels & couldn't get out...he was obviously the "runt".......well, he got real sick & crawled into an "opening" in our apt, so we could find him...we nursed him back to exceptable health....he was still being "odd" he came right out in the open and run over our feet.........Jessie named him "Jacob" (as a rule: she names everything! Plants, guitars she names them!) Well, Jacob got really sick again, we tried to nurse him back again, put him in a shoebox, made sure he had food & water.
Yesterday, Jessie went to go feed him soy milk with an eye dropper, but he was stiff as a board...Jessie tried to give him CPR --- obviously didn;t work. We observed at that point the reason he was having a hard time getting around was b/c one leg & one arm was shorter than the other. Jessie wrapped him in a sock & we all started to cry, including Hubby. Ozzie was the first "pet" that Jessie has had since "WE" were 14...................we raised many homeless & injured animals growing up; kids came to our house b/c they considered our house "The neighborhood Zoo" But, anyhow

The death of Jacob is hurting us all deeply; I haven't felt this ache in my heart since my 2nd brother died from complications of a suicide attempt. Others say we're crazy b/c field mice are rodents...despicable.

WE are taking the day off from the world....Jacob will be sorely missed & Jessie has gone completely quiet & in her closet (where she hasn't been since my brother)
