It's okay to be single, but only if you really want to be single and not because of resentment towards other people. 
I know there are a lot of girls out there with real entitlement issues- and it really sucks, I know. I hate watching my male friends getting involved with these girls, who can be so selfish, insensitive, thinking they are the only person that matters in the relationship and their partners more of a boy toy then a boy friend.
But, that's only a part of things, I've also seen couples where neither partner wants to be a burden on the other so they try to refuse things like gifts, and find it really surprising when their partner is being romantic with them.
And of course, there is always the middle ground, where people are happy with themselves, and their relationship. Who know how to accept kindness and love but at the ame time are not greedy for it.
