I found that to be absolutely true also!

I realized early on that the alters were the traumatized ones who needed therapy and healing. They had protected me from the worst of it and needed help. So I didn't resent all the sessions where they were the focus not me. I had my time when new stuff would come out and I had to process what I had heard. It was a balance and my T was very perceptive of who needed what.

Through my T and the writings and drawings I got to know the young ones and was a bit sad and happy for them as they were integrated. Part of that process was always done with visualization where I could thank them.

Without them, without that coping mechanism I may not have survived at all and now I am very glad I did.
