I don't think you have to be DID to "fully dissociate", do you? I think I dissociate sometimes (T has told me I have a couple of times in session), but I am not DID.
Don't a lot of people dissociate without being DID? I think I remember that from the DSM. There's a whole continuum. I have ego states (I think everyone does) but not alters that take control.
Now I'm confused!
