oh you poor thing! I think that most people still view depression as somehow the fault of the sufferer, even though its not. If you'd had, say a broken leg, she wouldn't be telling you that you didn't need to get it put in plaster or have painkillers would she?
Anyway, i agree that maybe it touched a raw nerve in her - so many people think "there but for the grace of god go i..." when they're confronted with depressed people. That's her insecurity and not your fault. Try not to let it get you down mate - we've all been there.
