And I'm wondering if this is something to try teaching to others, or if I shouldn't chance it since it isn't evidence-based by professionally accepted definitions.

My therapist believes very strongly in energy work, and taught me EFT early on in therapy. I definitely didn't find it as miraculous as those case studies you see everywhere (I read a book called "The Promise of Energy Psychology" on the topic that had a lot of amazing miraculous and instantaneous examples that I thought were a bit...exaggerated, but who knows?) but EFT is a good distraction, and I think it does help. Maybe it would work better for me if I used it more consistently and/or believed more strongly in it. I use it for SI urges, and while I haven't ever gotten "rid of" an urge simply through EFT, I have made them less strong and/or put off the action for awhile.

I don't know that you need to buy the DVD series, really, to understand and even teach eft. There are lots of videos on youtube that go into pretty good depth on how to do it, and show how it's done. My T taught me how to apply the technique in, literally, fifteen minutes. It's pretty simple. Though, if you think you would benefit from the dvds, by all means I just don't think they're necessary.
Thanks for this!
