I find that Trazodone has the least hangover effect of anything I've taken, but it also seems to act differently under different circumstances. Maybe I'm weird. Sometimes it doesn't work at all. Most of the time, if I take it a few hours before bed, it's perfect. You may try playing with timing and dose a bit. If it helped you sleep, it may be worth pursuing a tad more before completely giving up on it.
