Martina: I have a 4 year old daughter and I want her to go to college. If I die, they are screwed financially. Like an idiot, I didn't get coverage when she was born, before I was diagnosed. Now, no one will take me.
I can see how that could be a real concern for you. I went looking for some information and found a few articles that might be helpful...
This link is from a site in the UK and laws will likely differ from the ones in your local jurisdiction, but it might also have some useful advice you could adapt to your own situation:

Another possible option that might work for you...
A young man I know had been diagnosed with schizophrenia. Because he was off-meds and functioning well without them, he was able to successfully challenge his official diagnosis, which was changed to "drug-induced psychosis" -- a disorder largely considered to be temporary.
Depending on where you are in your recovery and the full scope of your history, symptoms, function, etc. you may be able to negotiate with your psychiatrist to "downgrade" your diagnostic label. In turn, this might make a difference to whether or not an insurance provider will accept you as a client.
You could also consider checking to see if there's any kind of advocate that offers legal support and advice in your area -- local support groups may know of someone or will have some additional ideas for you. It's possible that a national organization such as NAMI or MindFreedom might also be able to provide you with some information as related to securing life insurance.
Best of luck to you.
