It's NEVER okay, regardless of gender. Being a woman that has been in physically abusive relationships in the past, I am guilty of ignoring my own words, out of self defense. I'm not saying I was right in doing so, but sometimes you have to fight back, or risk losing a lot more than bruised morals.
