If we are in therapy to make our life better then we probably have some thought adjustment to do. When a person grows up in a dysfunctional family, dysfunction is what is learned. It is okay. It is okay to not be perfect and need to learn. It certainly is understandable why. How can anyone escape a dysfunctional environment without learning some dysfunction? I certainly learned a lot of it and I spent a lot of time learning what was "normal" or more functional. It does not mean that you are bad or anything! Are you hearing those tapes in your head that your dad planted there?????
