lostdad, I take a very slow acting stimulant (Vyvanse) and Wellbutrin as well for my ADHD-like sympoms. Wellbutrin helped somewhat on its own, but then we added the Vyvanse and that helped even more. I never feel high from either of these meds. I don't get any sort of buzz. I don't feel any withdrawal (e.g. headache, craving) if I don't take the Vyvanse for a couple of days. I just feel not as functional. Some people do develop an addiction to stimulants, especially the fast acting ones. By now in your life, you probably know if you tend to get addicted to things (e.g. caffeine, cigarettes, alcohol, painkillers) so you will know if you have addictive tendencies. I do not, and feel lucky, and taking stimulants has not been addicting either. If you do have addictive tendencies, please share that with your doc before getting a prescription for ADHD. It might influence the type of med you are prescribed.
