You would only be hospitalized against your will if you are a danger to yourself or others...meaning suicidal or dangerous. Are you able to take care of your basic needs for food, shelter, etc.? I'm guessing yes since it sounds like you are living at home with your mom.

There are LOTS of people walking around with schizophrenia...they work, and go to school, and raise families. If that IS your dianosis, a psychiatrist would prescribe medications for you to lessen your delusions. Sometimes it takes a few tries to find a med which works.

The first step is seeking help from your regular doctor. He/she can refer you to a psychiatrist (pdoc) who can get your started.

The only reason blood tests or anything else might be done is to rule out any physical reason for your problem. Depending on your symptoms, that may or may not occur. If there IS a physical reason, beyond schizophrenia, you'd surely want to know so it could be addressed.
