Here's to those that showed an interest in my endeavors in sign lang/ASL.
I am hearing but my interest in sign lang (SL) peaked about 2-1/2 yrs ago when I was working with a deaf/physically challenged client. I used to work with Assistance Dogs training their new people in working with the dog.

I really like this woman I worked with, and wanted to better communicate with her. She is oral and reads lips well. She became deaf at about 4 or 5 so she had some language already. She encouraged me to take a class and helped me to study and ofcourse taught me differently than my instructor--hearing.

Anyway, my instructor and I became good friends--maybe it's because I have taken her beginner class so many times and am just now beginning to "get it".

She has been encouraging me to move on and use my new skills. Got me a teaching job--1 day a week for a home-school co-op group. I am excited about the prospect of teaching. Interpreting is NOT something I care to get into.
deaf culture is so rich and the deaf are awesome folks. Haven't met one yet that isn't willing to encourage and teach something new.
