Okay i just found the website with the names of the characters in english, so:

Muumilaakso = Moominvalley
Nuuskamuikkunen = Snufkin
Muumipeikko = Moomin

Moomins are finnish ya know the tv cartoon is of course made in japan, but still. Tove&Lars Jansson...

Oh and i just have to watch it, i wasn't upset by those things as a kid, back then i thought Groke (Mörkö) was the most upsetting thing there . I love moomins.
