I must admit I've never heard of any of those bands (I assume I'm a bit older than you, Chase.) But I do know that music affects me very deeply, sometimes in a good way, sometimes not so good. Years ago when I was first trying to come to terms with my own addictions and depression I had to ban Pink Floyd from my 'playlist' because it sooo fed all that down feeling stuff.
But there are times when just listening to a certain song will allow me to finally cry after a long drought. And As someone who has a lot of trouble being angry, sometimes listening to aggressive guitars and drums can allow me to get in touch with that.
And dancing is a tremendous emotional release for me as well, although I don't do it often.
Anyhow, bottom line I guess would be watch how you are responding to music. Is it helping to cope better, or deepening something you need to get out of?
