Sorry to hear you're in such pain. Have x-rays showed any abnormality or is it muscular? Have you had physiotherapy? Try an epsom salt bath(2cups) and get one of those magic heating pads(the kind that have seeds in them) - this will provide moist heat which is better than dry heat. I think you should go to physio. and they can teach you how to do stretching exercises. I used to get terrible spasms in the trapezius muscle(between shoulder and neck - I would after applying moist heat sit in a kitchen chair and hold onto the seat with my hand and slowly stretch, tilting my head sideways until it is bearably painful - hold it for 30 sec. - then do the other side. You can also get one of those special pillows to be more comfortable at night. I hope you feel better soon.
