Hi there,
You ask, "when will the medication kick in"?
Most, take 2 to almost 4 weeks, as many told you last week in the drug questions. It is a good idea though to keep in touch with the prescribing physician, letting him or her know how you are doing with the med., case there is a need for change of dosage or actual med.
Medication in adjunct with therapy can help and does help thousands, just takes a little time.
Therapy helps in so many ways for so many, one area is attitude adjustment, therapists can help guide you through different coping techniques, healthy distractions, I found just talking to a therapist just about anything that was running through my mind helped.
Talking with family is fine, but there is usually some parental bias, even can go unnoticed, where with a good T, there will be no bias, something like a neutral territory, and most are up front they will tell it like it is, no sugar coating, it can be frustrating sometimes, but also can be of help to move you in the right direction.
All this stuff can help and even work if you want it, the big part is co-operating with your mental health care professional.
I really do wish you luck with this all
