Well, my PTSD went into a major flare-up after I got nailed by someone. But it showed up right away, it was not delayed, if that's what you mean.

I think I was more of a mess from the PTSD than the actual injuries at the time. The damage to my neck and back showed up much later. I didn't even recognize my body hurt because I was so numb to physical pain.

I think it's a natural reaction to be shaken up by a car accident or any other threatening situation, but when you have PTSD, that anxiety becomes a tidal wave.

It might not be because it reminds you of anything specific that happened in your past, but your mind and body recognize "danger" and it reacts like it has been "trained" to do.
