I'm not sure what kind of writing you do, but your lack of financial success with your writing probably has little to do with the writing itself. Most of the time, writing doesn't pay very well, especially since the industry has been in some trouble recently. Even published authors on their fourth or fifth books usually can't live off their earnings. It's extremely hard to get things accepted anywhere, much less PAID for. Be proud of yourself for actually having the guts to get your stuff out there. Be proud of every piece that you finish. It's a painstaking process, and it's a big deal when you've got a finished product in your hands. And be proud of that $25! That's a big deal! Someone PAID you for your WORDS!!!
You're not an idiot, you're struggling, and everyone has their share of struggles. If writing is what you want to do,
keep writing. Write about failure, if you want, as long as you're persistent in your passion. You'll get there. Rejection isn't a sign you're failing, it's a sign that you're making an effort, and that's ALWAYS something to take pride in.
