Furthermore, your comment "The host can get out ANY time she wants" clearly implies that this is not DID.

Because in true DID, there is NO control over what is happening with the alters or the host. Because the alters were created to do a job and they do that job spontaneously. You can not "make an alter" or "make the host" behave, come out, etc. They do their job.
And the host can not "get out any time" because the alters take over naturally and the host usually loses time and is unaware of what the alters are doing. This is DID. Dissociative barriers exist to protect the host...the host can not control any of this without intensive therapy with a qualified T to learn communication among the system.
