Isn't it the parent's job to guide a child into adulthood? A plant won't grow in a dark closet so how can a person? I know everyone's different and some people do grow just fine without their parents being there for them. I was mom's security blanket all of my young life there was no room for change and growth because I didn't feel safe in any of that. Then all of a sudden she gets remarried (this was 11 years ago) and expected me to sleep in my own bed or under it where ever I ended up and since she didn't need me anymore I was expected to grow up and get married and make babies I'm 24 and none of that's happening. Being discarded like that was a shock on me. I don't understand how parents could be so clueless.
