Hello Hereiam,

Being an ocd mother of 3 children (13,10, & 8), I can say that so far I have not really seen many "ocd" behaviors in my children, however I do ask that they wash their hands a lot. I also noticed that one of my sons insisted that things be an even number (like myself). That however seems not to be a problem anymore for him. I know I affect my family because of the way I am. In the new book I purchased today "Overcoming Compulsive Washing" by Paul Munford PhD He says that there maybe genetic factors with OCD. That ppl with ocd have a significantly higher percentage of family members with ocd then ppl without the disorder.

I dont know if this helps at all and I am sorry that the information is not that encouraging, however so far my children have not shown any strong ocd problem and they are at the prime age for developing symptoms. (29% before age 7, 52% 8-12, and 19% 13 and above. OCD in adults usually show up in early 20's)
