((((Christina)))) Aw, that sucks, I'm sorry.

I have tendinitis or similar in my left hand from playing the violin, and more recently I've been having similar problems with my right wrist as well. Unfortunately I think that although the violin is how it started, it's been made worse by my computer use (I've been working full time in an office over the summer) and hair pulling, which has been quite bad ever since the last set of exams.

But I've been in physio for a few months, and am also in a wrist support on my left hand, which I think is helping.
Are you able to see a physiotherapist for your tendinitis? In my experience they're much better with these sorts of problems than GPs, my doctor wasn't very helpful - all I got was "try not to play the violin for three weeks and see if that helps" (it didn't), and was given some ibuprofen gel that actually made my hand stiffer instead of stopping the pain!

With physio I've been given some exercises to do each night, and although my hands aren't back to normal yet I have noticed improvement without having to take any medication.

I hope you don't need to have surgery either.
