If the surgery was traumatic for you it could be a potential trigger. There are a few elements from what I've read that cause bipolar disorder. 1 is genetics. 2 is it has to be triggered. Triggering often occurs by exposure to a toxic agent in childhood or else a traumatic event, especially abuse in childhood.
