Deer are beautiful.. Very graceful and they have a graceful, majestic look about them.

My grandfather used to tell a story about visiting my grandmother's family in Michigan one winter (they live on the edge of a wooded area) and one morning, they looked out of the window of the house (a genuine log cabin, huge, with several bedrooms and a second level) and there was a huge black bear eating the apples they had put out for bait. Now, understand that my grandmother's family were not "hunters" because they ate everything they killed, and used all of the animal for one thing or another. This would have to have been in the 1930's.

Anyway, before the bear had a chance to run off, my great uncle stepped quietly out on the porch with his rifle. He aimed just as the bear stood up and looked at him, with each front paw holding a big red apple. My great uncle fired and the bear fell straight backward into the snow. Grandpa said it was like it was rehearsed. That bear stood up so pretty just in time to be taken down. They used the bear for meat and making soap, etc. And of course, the fur made lots of things back then.
