Just a few words from me about these kinds of things...
I know some people would like this be a community where "anything goes" or a place where they can speak their mind on any range of topics. But experience has taught me that when we've allowed that in the past, people abuse the privilege. That's why we have the limits on discussion of religion and politics here. And we ask -- and 99% of you follow -- that you do not abuse these guidelines.
But hey, we're all human and we all make mistakes. I don't expect everyone to be perfect 100% of the time, and perspective grants us hopefully some wisdom and understanding on issues like this. So although I would like never to have to deal with these issues again here, I know I will -- it's human nature. I acknowledge and even embrace our imperfections.
As far as the social groups and blogs go, they are less limited by the guidelines. The blogs are only limited by the site's terms of use, and the social groups are limited by those and the community guidelines, with the exception about talking about religion and politics. That way, if you *really* want to engage in such discussions, there is a place you can join where you can enjoy them until your heart's content. But you still must be respectful of one another in your dealings anywhere on the website.
Thank you!
DocJohn
