I have an appointment to see a mental health specialist next week which I think will be an assessment and then hopefully I will be getting CBT.

Yes I have experienced the same type of thing and yes it is better now but I dont know if that really means I have control over it. It took me a lot of time to practice not fighting the thoughts and just letting them happen without buying into them. I mean I still struggle with ocd but it's not nearly as bad as it was in the past. I hope your appointment goes well, working with someone has really helped me plus like I said I am on meds for it also.
